Jake Daniels is a name that may not necessarily ring in the ears of mainstream music critics, but this alternative singer is on his way to stardom, especially as the music scene slowly continues to shed a spotlight on smaller independent artists.
Born and raised in upstate New York, Daniels was always surrounded by music. His parents and siblings were musically gifted, causing the singer to find the inspiration he would later need to fuel his career.
While the singer has only been making music for almost four years, his evolution has been quite impressive. In 2019, Daniels released his first debut singles, “Ain’t Easy,” “Changed,” “Overnight,” “Alone,” “Wolves” and “2 Stroke,” allowing him to receive some recognition across streaming platforms, especially Spotify.
His debut caused many music lovers to connect with Daniels’s music, as many of the tracks revolved around falling in love, finding common ground within a relationship or simply just embracing one’s individuality and skills.
Even the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t stop the singer from releasing new music. A year after his debut, Daniels dropped six singles. One of the tracks, “Two Face,” a viral cinematic track about the singer’s own struggles with insecurity, helped him gain a heavy following online. YouTube’s animation and Gacha Community, a video game space on the server, also praised Daniels for the track, causing the single to reach global acclaim.
With “Two Face” receiving over 30 million streams and being featured within Central Asia’s Top 100 chart on Apple Music, Daniels still didn’t let his newfound stardom slow him down, nor bruise his ego. Instead, he channeled his success into producing more music.
As 2021 came into full force, Daniels released five more songs. Tracks such as “The Show” again proved that the singer could be vulnerable, feeling like the world around him had caused the singer to live in his shadow. Meanwhile, the singer also tried out new perspectives, channeling a darker narrative with songs such as “Killer” and “Liar.”
Although, 2022 may have been Daniels’s biggest year yet. The singer dropped two EPs in the span of a few months. The first, “Obsessed,” included tracks he released years prior, but also contained new songs like “Novia” and “Drop The Match.”
Now a prominent musical figure within the gaming industry, Daniels still continued to surprise fans after announcing his second EP, “The Otherside,” which recently dropped in October. Embracing a darker sound, as well as experimenting with a new production, the singer’s new body of work won the attention of his following.
This support inspired Daniels to release “dark versions” of his previous songs, evident with the reimagined releases of “Liar” and “The Show” within the last few months. The singer also shared with fans on Instagram his Spotify Wrapped, elated to discover he had over three million listeners from 181 countries.
It seems like Jake Daniels is a name that people should know, even if you’re not into gaming. From creating work that is vulnerable to songs that are playful and dark, the singer is a creative storyteller that deserves praise for years to come.
