A petition to remove Kanye West’s solo catalog from streaming platforms is approaching 90,000 signatures. The Change.org petition was created in response to the rapper’s recent antisemitic remarks and social media posts.
“Kanye West has recently made statements praising Hitler and denying the Holocaust, after over a month of making harmful antisemitic statements,” writes the petition creator, Nathan Goergen.
“Our society has no place for people who spread that kind of hate to be making millions off of their work. I call on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and other streaming platforms to immediately remove all of Kanye West’s solo albums and singles from their platforms.”
“By doing this, I hope that we can limit Kanye’s influence on society by eliminating his ability to make money off of people streaming his music,” Goergen continues. “His statements are virtually irredeemable, and the time has finally come for him to receive a major punishment. We cannot let him continue to influence our youth and our society as a whole. Please consider signing this petition.”
Currently, the petition has acquired more than 86,000 signatures. Once it reaches its goal of 150,000 signatures, the petition becomes one of the top-signed on change.org, affording it additional viewership on the site.
“Let us not forget that crimes against Jewish people are increasing. Innocent men, women, and children are being attacked for their religion, and it’s not just happening in a faraway country. It is happening in the United States. We cannot let Kanye be rewarded for his comments.”
Recently, Kanye was suspended from Elon Musk-owned Twitter after sharing an image of a Swastika inside the Star of David.
Last week, he shared audio on Instagram from a new track sampling his highly controversial interview with Alex Jones, in which he wore a ski mask and expressed admiration for Hitler. The lyrics reference West’s divorce from Kim Kardashian and the backlash to his antisemitic comments.
