Take Me To The River: New Orleans Announces February 3rd … - Music Fest News

Just in time for the 65th GRAMMY Awards, Take Me to the River: New Orleans, the acclaimed documentary that celebrates the rich musical history, heritage, legacy, and influence of New Orleans and Louisiana music through live sessions with local artists, will be available to stream on GooglePlay, Amazon, iTunes and more starting February 3. The film and accompanying soundtrack feature “Stompin’ Ground,” a collaboration between Aaron Neville and Dirty Dozen Brass Band and produced by the film’s director Martin Shore and Eric Krasno, nominated for Best American Roots Performance.

In addition, Take Me To The River Live! will head out on tour this February and March. The shows will include New Orleans musical luminaries featured in the project such as Dumpstaphunk, George Porter Jr., Jon Cleary, Bo Dollis Jr., and more.

The second film in the award-winning Take Me To The River franchise, Take Me to the River: New Orleans features new recordings by The Neville Brothers, PJ Morton, Big Freedia, G-Eazy, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Snoop Dogg, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, William Bell, Ani DiFranco, Donald Harrison, Galactic, Irma Thomas, Ledisi, and many more. The deluxe soundtrack release is a once-in-a-generation collaboration that celebrates the sonic melting pot that comprises the musical DNA of NOLA.

The producers of this wholly unique and unprecedented project have paired legendary legacy musicians with the rising stars from all corners of the musical spectrum including jazz, second line, R&B, hip hop, rap, funk, soul, and rock and roll to create a historic artistic collaboration. The album features brand new recordings of the final performances from the Neville Brothers and one of the last studio sessions with Dr. John as well as all-new collaborative performances from a range of great New Orleans artists.
 
Take Me To The River: New Orleans gives the viewer an insightful historical perspective on how global influences shaped, and continue to shape, a musical quilt that formed the music of this extraordinary city.
