Season 4 of The Boys may not come out on Amazon Prime in January 2023, but news of the spin-off Gen V could be coming soon.
Consistency can make or break anything. In this case, it can destroy a show. Usually, fans can expect a season of a program to be released every year until it’s completed. The Boys has been a model of regularity since it was released.
If it wasn’t for the pandemic, we could be talking about the fifth season of the popular Amazon Prime show and not the fourth. Even then, their Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube pages have kept fans interested in the show in between breaks. As great as they’ve been with releasing seasons and keeping fans thinking of the show, there’s no chance season 4 of The Boys is coming in January.
There are a few reasons this can be stated as facts.
First, Amazon Prime and the people behind The Boys wouldn’t release a new season without some build-up. This isn’t like the music industry where Beyoncé or Taylor Swift can put an album out and get millions of streams. Viewers need previews, teasers, and more to get excited about the season. Secondly, the fourth season started filming in August. Even if the cast finished filming, there’s still a lot of editing to do. Lastly, The Boys spin-off Gen V takes place during season 3. It wouldn’t make sense to put out season 4 before Gen V is released.
If we had to guess, season 4 of The Boys will be released sometime in the summer of 2023. Most likely middle or end of June. Seasons 1 and 3 were released in the summer, while Season 2 was released in September. That leads us to believe that Amazon wants its star program out around the same time each year. If that’s the case, we should expect news of season 4 to come out around the time Gen V is released.
Gen V will probably come out in March. Just like the previous spin-off The Boys Presents: Diabolical. The trailer for Gen V (that you can see above) debuted in early December. That means production could be wrapping up soon.
After that, another trailer will come out (possibly in late January or early February) and it will announce when Gen V will start streaming. When it comes out, an announcement of season 4 of The Boys will follow. Probably as the last episode of the season streams.
